OUR 5 PRINCIPLES
19-04-20211st principle : ISOLATED CLIMBS
We don't take all the best climbs, all the most difficult ones, but we take a good package of climbs representing the best possible the cycling live about climbs in the zone. We try to get every mountain range even if it is an hilly area not so far great high mountains. We want that cyclists living somewhere with a special climb in their area that every cyclist of this area likes to climb very often, or mediatic symbol of the region, get this climb in our lists. We sometimes delete one very good and hard climb similar to a next one, to give the place to those climbs.
2nd principle : TOURISM
Those climbs have a green triangle. A good view, a beautiful panorama is not enough to be touristic. Unesco sites and national parks have priorities with historical monuments, cycling symbols, statues, churches or museums on the tops.
3rd principle : SPORT
Those climbs have a red triangle. We ask one of the 2 following characteristics : a minimum of europints (general energy necessary to be used to climb it) or a minimum of bomb points (explosion, heart intensity,...). Those minimums are calculated according to the average value of the zone.
4th principle : MEDIA
Those climbs are selected because they are wellknown climbs of professional races. One time is often not enough. We ask at least 2 times to give a yellow triangle. If the countries haven't great cycling races like classics or tours, we also take as a reference the races for young riders and the cyclesport events.
5th principle : GRAVELLED
They are few and they need to have a very wellknown interest on the top to be included. Often, they are legends for something. And more often, they have a first asphalted section and a last gravelled section. We never take a gravelled section that requests to carry the bike on the shoulder somewhere.
