B.I.G WEBSITE UNDER WORKS
15-11-2011Wouter De Ruyck, our webmaster, is currently working on ameliorating our website. Here is the summary of what has already been fixed a few days ago, and what will be improved before the end of the year 2011.
Photos and commentaries added, problems fixed, steps better marked, new classements and new menus shown, local challenges promoted, shouts clearer, ... : the challenge B.I.G is always under works for a better future. 1) Photos
The last photos uploaded by the members appear on the top of the homepage. By clicking on one of them, the size increases. Additional feature : when you're in a page of one of the climbs, an additional menu appears on the right with "edit a photo". This menu gives you the ability, by clicking on the pencil, to edit a commentary about one photo that you personnally uploaded before. It's also possible to delete or change this commentary. Soon, a simple overfly of the mouse on one photo will show who uploaded the photo and which climb it is showing.
2) Problems fixed
One avoids many problems with the subscriptions now. Less double subscriptions, new password more easily requested, and an easier way for the committee to manage the contributions. The nr 950 can now be claimed and the nrs 866 to 875 are now like the 951,...,1000 according to our last rules.
3) Steps
In the general overview of the members, the steps appear more clearly. The amount of ironbigs also appear on the right. Soon, the steps from 1 to 20 will appear in a different shape, with links to explanations, and more importance to the BIG, BAG and BEG (164,500 & 1000 + amount of continents, countries). The steps will be : 0,1,2,3,4 and over 164 : BIG05,...,BIG09 and over 500 BIG11,...,BIG19 or BAG11,...,BAG19 and finally BEG20 = the top.
4) Classements
Just below the yearly classement appears now the ironbig classements, giving the amount of times one member became godfather.
5) new menus
The common blue menu called "notes" in the individual pages of our climbs will let you soon the ability to write a short text, commentary about the big that you just climbed. The green menu called "track" for the contributors will be replaced by a menu "query" where any contributor will be able to find what he wants as a request in our database about members, bigs,...The left column with menus in the home page is changing. A new chapter called "parallel challenges" already shows a movement of the menu "godfather" which is now inside this chapter. Soon, another menu called "local challenges" will be indicated below and will drive you to the local or national challenges that some countries are preparing since a long time now. Finally, in the statistics of the menus given for your personal pages of member, you'll see your evolution year after year since your entrance in our challenge.
6) local challenges
The local national or eventually regional) challenges are under works. Of course, each country will manage itself those challenges in personal websites. But the BIG-challenge as promised, will insure the promotion of those challenges. By clicking on "local challenges", you'll see a list of those challenges, one by one with links to a page presenting the climbs of those local lists and the classements of our members in those challenges. Another link to the official website of the local challenge will be of course existing, if this website exists. Recall that those challenges must have the "stamp BIG", based on our 5 principles, to appear in this list.
7) shouts
The social network appeared one year ago but it must be improved. The line of the discussion will appear more clearly, wherever it appears, in the shouts, or in the personal messages. You'll never more answer to something not appearing.
Let's hope that those improvements will help you to feel still better among us...
