488 - Sierra de Lújar (incl. Puerto de Haza del Lino)

I did this climb on 18th of October 2024 from the shortest way: NW. This because I had a perfect starting point at Camping Órgiva, but also to save energy for the last 8 km to the top of Lujar. Like Mike said, the asphalt is in a deplorable state and it is a tough climb. But take your time, enjoy the scenery and pray that you won't get a flat tyre. Still I prefer a road bike, because the rest of the 20 km was perfect smooth tarmac.

The final 9 kms to the Repetidores, after leaving the A4131 is uncomfortable at best, dangerous at worst. The 'road' is in an awful state, more pothole and gravel than asphalt ( as of Sept 2024). The descent was slow and painful on a road bike. More suitable for a gravel bike or MTB. The rest of the route is perfect.
