Due to the social media there was a mini-mini-mini-BIG-meeting in Italy in july. Martin Kool stayed for a week in Tuscany. He posted about his cyclo-climbs on facebook and twitter. When he moved form Tuscany to Le Marche he posted that too. BIG-member and UIC president Giordano Castagnoly (friend of Martin on Facebook) noticed this. He offered Martin to climb the Monte Nerone together. On july 31 Martin and Giordano met in Bar Trota Blu in Piobbico. After a good cappucino they climbed this majestic mountain in Le Marche. The climb from Piobbico is a hard one. Almost 14 km and and average of 8,5%! LINK After they reached te top they took a beer and visited the memory-plate of the GIRO 2009 on the Pantano (just a few km from the top of the Nerone). The descent went via Serravalle and Colluccio. LINK to GPS data.
It was a very pleasant meeting and if you are near the Nerone, Giordano is always willing to join you to the top.
You can also get a Monte Nerone brevet by climbing 3 sides in one day. Read all about it HERE or HERE or HERE
