TOP 5 of the decisions
1) We will keep the round number of 1.000 BIGs in our Superlist but zone 12 becomes facultative. Our aim is to offer next to the Superlist as we have it right now also a Superlist that has a better balance of BIGs in Eastern- and Western Europe. This is achieved by taking the 50 BIGs from Zone 12 (nr 951-1000) together with the 10 BIGs of ex-USSR (nr 866-875) and hence offer 60 BIGs extra in Zone 10&11 by means of this more balanced Superlist. Members can choose either for the Superlist as we know it now or for the new more balanced Superlist. But the 940 other numbers don't change. A group is studying how to implement this change in the challenge so it can be used from the start of 2016.
2) The Leading Committee will expand from 3 to 6 persons and we will dispatch the tasks better between the 6. We will describe the jobs of the BIG C6 committee members and post it on the website so members will be able to apply for one of these jobs. We will have a special email address so members can request additional information and/or apply for a job.
3) The BIG-challenge will sign a professional contract with the companyof our current webmaster. This to make use of the available knowledge and have a better maintenance of the website (fixing faults) which is our primary communication platform that allows members to share and exchange information. The website is also our “business card” to the outside world and should therefor function well. As this maintenance will cost money, we will request certain members to pay a contribution to the Challenge if they still want to keep claiming BIGs. The amount of money that members will have to pay and the criteria when members will have to pay (E.g. to be able to claim 164 BIGs or more) will be discussed and decided upon by a working group.
4 In zone 12, inside the choice “other continents”, the far islands will be linked to the nearest continent and not to their mother country. The rule of 5000m DOL(DifferenceOf Level) minimumper continent is kept but a minimum service will be decided upon by a group studying this problem. The group will also try to draw the continental borders on a map.
5) A new side can be added in the website for aBIG when the main part of the 5 principles are applicable. BIGs of our current Superlist presenting certain problems will be kept(e.g. whenthe top is available with an MTB or whenthe road to the top is open at least one day a year, etc). A group is studying those problems and will show in which specific cases we will allow a BIG to stay in our Superlist or not.
